Independent Medical Expert Witness Reports

Legal opinion from a GP and Fellowship-trained surgeon.

I provide independent medical expert witness reports across general practice and general surgery, giving solicitors, insurers, and medico-legal agencies clear opinion they can rely on.

With 18 years of clinical experience and formal training in expert witness report writing, every report is prepared to the standards required under the Civil Procedure Rules, with my duty to the court always front of mind. I welcome instructions from claimants and defendants alike, including personal injury and clinical negligence cases.

What is a Medical Expert Witness?

A medical expert witness is an independent clinician instructed by the court, or by a solicitor, to give an objective opinion on a medical issue central to a case. Rather than arguing for either side, the expert's role is to help the court understand the medical evidence, so their duty is to the court, not to whoever has instructed them.

I provide this service across general practice and general surgery, and every opinion I give is prepared with that duty to the court front of mind.

What I Specialise In

  • General Practice standard of care, including diagnosis, referral decisions, and prescribing

  • General surgery in primary care, including surgical decision-making and post-operative complications

  • Minor surgery, including benign skin lesions such as lipomas and cysts

  • Wound management, closure, and complications

What My Medical Expert Service Includes

  • Case Review & Analysis: Thorough review of medical records and case evidence, assessing whether the standard of care was met against relevant clinical guidelines.

  • Report Writing: A clear, CPR-compliant report setting out my opinion and the evidence behind it, written to be easily understood by lawyers and judges, not just clinicians.

  • Court Attendance: Available to attend court, answer questions from judges or opposing counsel, and defend my opinion under cross-examination where required.
